UFC Fight Night

Wednesday Cory and I went to UFC Fight Night Live in Broomfield. We got the tickets a few months ago and it felt like FOREVER waiting for the day to finally get here. Most of the guys fighting were from the Ultimate Fighter series on Spike but there were a lot of more experienced fighters in the crowd. We got to see Dana White, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Forrest Griffin, Matt Hughes, Rasheed Evans, Eddie Bravo, Nate Marquardt, Nick Diaz, Frank Mir, Joe Rogan, Diego Sanchez, Mike Nickels, the TapOut guys, Karo Parisyan, Thiago Alves, Mac Danzig, Kenny Florian, and Herb Dean. Matt Hughes was cornering for Tommy Speers, who ended up sitting just a few rows away from us- right behind Frank Mir who was there to watch. Forrest Griffin and Rampage were there to promote the next Ultimate Fighter season- which of course adds to my list of reality TV shows I need to watch. We got to see Nate Diaz, Joe Lauzon, Manny, George, the Russian guy that broke his arm in the first practice and got replaced, Matt Hamill, and Gray Maynard. Bruce Buffer was the annoucer and of course Joe Rogan did the commentary and after-fight interviews. It was cool to see the TapOut guys there and watch them work there way up from their original seats to the amazing ones right behind Matt Hughes. I was surprised at how often the guys would come up into the crowd to meet fans and take pictures. Dana White even climbed over the barriers to come into the stands for pictures. Cory got a really good picture with Eddie Bravo, one of the most elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters and instructors in the world. There were some problems with our camera, user error on my part if you ask Cory, so the pictures I took did not turn out so well. I will post a few more when Cory's friend David emails them. On the way out, Cory was one of the few to snag a picture with Mike Nickels- a great figher from Denver.
Cory and David were able to meet Nate Marquardt, who Cory is hoping to start training with soon, earlier in the day when he was at Comcast for a Meet and Greet. They were able to get some shirts for the event so they fit right in with Flat Stanley's cool new clothes! We had a great day and can't wait for our next UFC event!!! Hopefully the next one will be in Vegas so everyone won't be so winded from fighting a mile above sea level!!!
