November 2010- 5 months

What? I'm not doing anything....Okay, you caught me, I can sit now :o)

Helping Mommy with the laundry

Hey, I got a new jumper thingy to play in and this flower is fun to hold!

I wonder how it tastes? Yummy!!!

Don't even think about taking my puppy!
Chilling with puppy in the morning. Now that I am a professional roller, I get to see a lot more things. And its pretty funny Mommy thinks I am just going to stay on this tiny little blanket!

What the heck is this??? I had no idea carrots weren't always mushy!

Ha ha Mommy! I got the spoon and fed myself a few bites!

Do these pants make me look fat?
Happy girl!!!

Showing off my long underwear and how big I am now

Happy Halloween too?

I forgot to share her Halloween picture last month so here she is- our cute little monkey!

Happy Turkey Day!!!

Thanks to Alexis, I am getting the most out of this paid holiday. After shouting very loudly this morning, she went back to sleep but since I am normally up pretty early, I was not able to get back to sleep. So at 7:00am, I have already done a couple loads of laundry, put away a lot of laundry, cleaned up the house and uploaded some pictures. Guess I might need to thank her :0)
Work and school are going great for me. We implemented a new quality program at work so my team's responsibilities have changed a lot. It has been nice enjoying going to work! I am halfway through another class (I should be doing my homework right now as usual) and will have a two week break at the end of this class which I am really looking forward to. Only 4 more classes to go!!!
Alexis is changing so much- she is rolling over like crazy now and recently started rolling to follow the dog. Emma is not so sure about this baby-moving thing now. She is sitting up although she hasn't quite mastered the backwards balance so as soon as she smiles (which is a whole body thing for her) she tips over. She loves standing and has a great time in her exersaucer and jumper. Emma has figured out how close she can get to the exersaucer without getting letting Alexis touch her now that Alexis has her "grab-and-pull" skill down quite well. The only time Emma will brave getting really close to Alexis is when she is eating baby food. Then Emma is more than willing to lose a little hair.
Alexis still loves chatting and laughs all the time. I love finding new games to play with her to see what makes her giggle. She is all about chewing on things now and I am amazed at how fast she can get things to her mouth. She is not big on napping every day but she sleeps great at night so I am okay with that. She usually gets about 12-13 hours of sleep at night so I have started trying to get to bed a lot earlier after I put her down which has made 4am a lot nicer.
While she has always been a great eater, recently she has started getting whiny when we are eating and not sharing with her :o) She will stare just as cute as the dog and move her mouth like she is chewing while we are eating. I have tried to feed her baby food a few times while we are eating but she gets crabby like I am trying to trick her. I cannot wait until she is just eating what we are eating. I love watching her grow and learn new things but sometimes I miss the baby stuff.
It sounds like I am being requested upstairs for a breakfast date with my Princess. Hope you all have a good Turkey Day! I've got Grandma's raspberry salad in the fridge so I am ready for the day :o) Wish I was eating it in Iowa with my family but at least we will have a good day with our family here!

Wearing Mommy's hat
Yummy- squash is delicious! (Little did she know green beans would be next and she would like them even more! Pictures to come)

Smearing baby cereal all over her face but looking cute doing it

All worn out from helping make dinner. Ok, really she just sits there and talks to Mommy but it maks the night a lot more fun

4 month check up

Alexis had her 4 month check-up yesterday (we waited a week to get in with the pediatrician that we like). She is doing great- 14.4lbs (60th percentile) and 24.5 inches long (50th percentile). We have tried cereal a few times and she is getting more used to as I play with the consistency to see what she likes. The doctor said we can go ahead and start her on baby food- I can only imagine the mess that is going to make after seeing her when we are finished with cereal. I think I might have to start figuring out how to give her a bath in the sink to make it easier. She is a VERY chatty little girl and really enjoys chiming in on conversations while I am on the phone. She is still extremely happy as long as she is not hungry. Nighttime typically goes very well. This last weekend, I woke up before her and got a lot done before she woke up.
I am doing well in school and work is going good. There have been a lot of changes at work so the last month was kind of interesting catching up but I am getting used to things. I may never get used to setting my alarm for 4:03am (it has to be an odd number) and now that it is really dark when I am going to work, it stinks a little but I do love my afternoons with my princess so I guess it is all worth it. Just looking forward to a long weekend off for Thanksgiving and getting ready for Lexi's first Christmas!!!

13 week pictures

Lexi and Mommy!
Close-up!

Wait a minute... this is not so fun anymore

Daddy is trying to get a picture of me... I'll show him how fast I can move my legs :o)

I don't really get why the baby thinks this thing is so much fun... at least I look cute!

Taking a break from work

Since I am having a hard time focusing on work today and I happen to be at home, I thought I would take a few minutes to dump my brain and share some new pictures. Cory and I just celebrated our third wedding anniversay by going to a nice dinner at Elways- what an amazing meal!!! Alexis is crazy with her rolling over now although she is still less than excited when she gets to her belly for too long. Cute during the day, not so cute in the middle of the night. At least she has started learning to just sleep on her belly if she is going to keep rolling over on it. She is laughing all the time and loves to join me when I am laughing. That might be the most amazing sound in the world! :o) She is getting much better at getting things to her mouth the first time she tries and she has started sucking her thumb more consistently although she tends to default to the whole fist when she doesn't get the thumb separated quick enough.
My work has been going well. Lots of changes there and I am not enjoying getting up at 4:00am but is sure is nice being done by 2:30pm. My first week of school went well and I am hoping that trend continues for the next 7 weeks (well, the next 5 sessions really!). In addition to knowing the moment that I am starting to eat, get comfotable in bed, or start to drift away for a quick nap, Alexis also knows the exact minute that I sign on to the computer. It is amazing how she knows all of that. At least she also knows exactly when I need a smile/laugh/cuddle too. Her and daddy are always great at making me laugh when I need it. I have a great video of those two playing peek-a-boo if I can ever figure out how to load it.
This morning, after a night of not a lot of sleep (see above frustration with rolling over in the middle of the night and then being pissy), I had a horrible morning of work. I took my morning break to nurse the baby and get a happy thought. She smiled all big when I went in to get her and I felt so much better. Then she took it one more step and to make sure I remembered her while she was playing with Auntie Jae today, she had a blowout diaper while we were eating and then while I was getting up to clean us up, she puked down my shirt. Funny how even all that makes me smile :o) What a crazy little girl! Gotta love her!

And now the fun begins!

Alexis is 12 weeks old now. On Friday she rolled over to her belly for the first time! I consider that my reward for surviving my first two day back at work. We recently got her a Bumbo seat since she loves sitting. She really enjoys it for about 5 minutes right now and then it is time for something new. These pictures are all from the weekend. She loves to lay on the blanket from great-grandma Yeomans. She has really started enjoying playing with toys and likes to hold onto the monkey blankie daddy got her. She laughs so much now and I finally got good pictures of it. I have been trying to get a video of it but we have not been successful yet.
in addition to starting back to work last week, my class starts today. I got logged in and printed everything off before Alexis decided she was done with her bouncy seat. So now the fun begins- how to juggle everything. I can type on the blog ith one hand but I think my papers and projects will require both hands -just guessing from the number of typos that I am sure are in this post. And no, I am not going to proof read my blog- please just trust that I do know how to spell.
I guess I should try to start some dinner and maybe get some reading done while I have a chance :o) My 4am alarm comes very early in the morning so the earlier I can get to bed, the better!
