Halfway there!

Tomorrow starts week 20 for baby girl! While I originally thought that June seemed ridiculously far away for a due date, the weeks seem to be flying by and I feel like it will be here soon enough. I decided to visit my shopping mecca on Friday and check out the baby section again. Typically my shopping has consisted of the cute blankets and tiny little sock aisles so this time I branched out to the furniture area. Can someone please explain to me why, if the point of putting the items on display is to sell them to me, are all the baby items (strollers, swings, pack-and-plays, etc) displayed on a shelf that starts at my shoulders??? I got a great view of the tires on the strollers but I have no idea what the inside looks like- not sure how that is supposed to make me want to buy something. Plus, when the pack-and-play is talking about a newborn nap area, in addition to the basinet part and the changing table, I seriously need to see what they are talking about- no freaking idea what that would be. I feel that I may have to part ways with my mecca (the name left out as to not start a debate incase someone reading this happens to work there!) and venture into an actual baby stuff store. That will be an interesting shopping trip! :o)

We had our doctor's appointment on Friday and we are both doing very well. The baby is growing nicely and she is definitely an active little girl. In a previous post I mentioned the bedside manner of the nurse, or lack thereof, so this Friday it was quite funny to watch her try to find the baby's heartbeat. As soon as she would get the heartbeat thing in place, we would hear a couple of beats and then nothing as the baby scooted away. The nurse would keep moving around and after a heartbeat or two, baby was on the move again. That in itself is entertaining to me but the icing on the cake was watching the nurse get frustrated by it. Seriously, how can she be mad at the cutest little baby girl taking advatage of all the swimming room she has right now? You would think working in an OB office, she would have a little more patience with fetal movements... but of course, I think she should be nice too but we seem to have a difference of opinion on that as well!

On a positive note, I am having a great time cleaning our house and finding ways to de-clutter! Not that we are close to "Hoarders" status, just after not moving for three years, we seem to have accumulated a lot of stuff in the extra bedroom. I have had plenty of bonding time with the shredder lately! Plus it is a great distraction from doing homework, although my class is going great and is actually somewhat interesting. It is just kind of hard to focus on school when there is so much planning for out cute new arrival in just 20 short weeks!

Working from home

Since it was a bit chilly today in Colorado, I decided to spend the day working from home. Another wonderful day spent in sweatpants! It is really hard to get motivated to do anything now though. I need to get started on my homework as my class started Monday. I will be in school until almost the end of April and then taking a little time off so I won't have to go back until about the end of August. Some people have suggested that it might be best to not try having a baby and taking classes at the same time so I am going to take a few sessions off. While I am sure the baby will keep me from being bored, it will be strange not working or going to school for a few months.

Work is going well for me. My team got a new supervisor and the change has been fabulous! It is so nice enjoying going to work again. I am interested to see what this tax season brings! Cory is keeping very busy at work and has been given quite a few new opportunities through classes, mentorship, and projects that will help boost him to the next level of leadership.

We had a great Christmas and New Years and look forward to all that 2010 is going to bring for us. Hope everyone else is prepared for the magic of the new year too!
