Update

Wow- it is already July?!?!? Where did the time go? Oh, that's right- we had a baby :o) Here is a quick recap of our lives over the last few weeks, pictures will be added as time allows.

Alexis Madeline joined the family on June 3rd. We went in the night of the 2nd to start the induction process. After about 13 hours of labor, the doctor decided to do a c-section since the baby was not in a good position and had decided not to budge. Alexis was born at 8:47pm, 8lbs and 20 inches long. We stayed in the hospital until Monday since she needed to stay under the bili light for a day to help her get healthier to go home. Although we ended up delivering at a different hospital than we originally planned and had to have surgery, the experience was a pretty good one. The only issue we had was our stupid night nurse who unfortunately worked the first few nights we were there. Cory was able to take the first week off from work so we got to spend a lot of time together as a new family. The adjustment of being home has been good. Emma and Token don't seem to mind the baby although Emma is not a fan of the baby crying at night and has started sleeping downstairs more than in our room. She has tried to get Alexis to play with her a few times which involves the butt wiggle and barking at her but so far, Alexis has not been up for the challenge :o)
Alexis is changing every day and I feel very lucky to have 12 weeks home with her. My mom was able to make it out to meet Alexis a couple of weeks ago and got us caught up on everything around the house. Thank you mom!!! Alexis loved snuggling with Grandma Sue and is looking forward to seeing her again if we can find a time to meet up while her and Ed are still in the US. Grandma Paula had been a big help too coming over to watch Alexis so I can get out of the house a little. After the "limited activity" for 7 weeks before the baby and then the restrictions from the c-section, it felt a little strange to go out of the house by myself and not have to go to the doctor's office :o) Alexis and I have done two trips alone together but for the most part, we like hanging out at home. After all, I pretty much have just lived in my jammies for the last few months, getting up and getting ready just for me is a switch, then throw in trying to get the baby ready- it is commical!
Thank goodness we got our house and moved prior to having the baby- having a backyard for Emma has been amazing. She loves protecting us from the bunnies in the yard and has now started barking at them when she is inside. I have just started decorating the walls and hope to have most of the stuff done by the time we have a shindig for Cory's birthday.
Things are starting to get a lot easier and I feel like I am getting back to normal, minus a little sleep :o) I would like to apologize to anyone I have missed for birthdays, holidays, phone calls, Facebook messages unanswered and the lack of picture updates. Going forward I will try to stay up on things a little better. I am guessing that going back to work and starting classes again in August will be a double edged sword- helpful since I will be forced to be on the computer more but less than helpful by taking up all my time.
Looks like the baby is still sleeping so I will try to get some pictures added quick- hope you enjoy!
